Our Mission
Let me tell you a little story. Back when I was taking language classes in high school and college, it seemed like all we ever did was read passages, study grammar rules, and fill out the same worksheets — over and over. And you know what I noticed? The students around me could ace a test, but they would freeze up as soon as they were asked a question – even something as simple as what the weather was like that day. As an avid traveler and someone who has always valued language as a conduit for connection, this just didn’t cut it for me. I wanted language learning to actually open doors and allow me to chat with locals, experience new things, and make new friends.
With that in mind, I set out to do things differently when I started teaching Spanish. Enter: The Road to Spanish Fluency.
My classes are built around real-life situations. We start with things like going to a restaurant, checking into a hotel, or getting through the airport. Need-to-know vocabulary, a dash of grammar to help things make sense, and then — here’s the fun part — we practice the situation out loud. Forget endless worksheets; we’re talking, we’re acting it out, we’re actually using the language.
This approach helps concepts stick, because your brain connects the words you’re learning to real moments, not just textbook pages. Sure, getting an A on a test feels great. But if you can’t order a coffee without wishing for a whiteboard, what’s the point? From day one in my classes, you’ll be speaking Spanish. I ensure my students leave my course with the confidence to dive into new conversations on their own, and with enough mastery of the basics to keep learning through the world around you, with or without me. (Though, my other courses are always here if you want a bit more support!)
Just to make sure my method worked, I tested it on myself. Before two trips — one to Morocco, the other to Romania — I gave myself two weeks to learn as much of each language as I could using this system. And while I wasn’t giving deep speeches by the end of those trips, I could handle daily life with ease — from ordering food to asking how much something cost, and finding my way around. Most importantly, I’d learned how to learn more, on the go, with every new conversation or discovery.
That’s exactly what I want for you. To be able to step confidently into the Spanish-speaking world (whether you’re traveling, working, or just enjoying the challenge) knowing you can handle daily conversations, make new friends, and keep growing all on your own. No endless drills, no fear, just practical skills and a bit of fun along the way.
Teaching and languages are two of my greatest passions. Honestly, nothing makes me happier than seeing that “aha!” moment when a student realizes just how much they can do in Spanish — or hearing your stories about real-world wins, whether it’s a successful conversation at a café or making friends during your travels. Those moments? Pure gold.
So if you’re ready to start your Spanish adventure, I can’t wait to help you get there. Let’s make Spanish something you actually use and enjoy every single day.
